Terms of use
Sum & Carry is a free scratchpad that does arithmetic on figures you type. This page sets out what that means and what you are agreeing to by using it.

Agreement
By using Sum & Carry you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
What this site is
Sum & Carry reads the lines you type, works out the arithmetic they describe, and shows the results beside them. It is a calculation aid — the digital equivalent of doing sums on the back of an envelope.
Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting, or real estate advice, and no result is a recommendation to do anything.
No advice, no professional relationship
We are not your financial adviser, broker, lender, accountant, attorney, or agent, and using this site creates no such relationship. Before acting on any figure produced here — a quote you send a client, a budget, a property decision — check it, and consult professionals licensed in your jurisdiction where the stakes justify it.
Accuracy and limitations
The syntax the scratchpad understands is documented in the Help panel, and we make a genuine effort to keep the arithmetic correct. Even so:
- Results depend entirely on your input. A mistyped figure or a misread line produces a wrong answer, however sound the arithmetic.
- Templates are illustrative. The example figures in each template are starting points chosen to be plausible, not estimates for your situation.
- Interpretation is a best effort. The tool guesses at what a line of plain text means. Read the results column and check that it understood you.
- Nothing is rounded for you. Displayed values are rounded to two decimal places for legibility; the underlying arithmetic is not adjusted for currency conventions, tax rules, or lender requirements.
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sum & Carry and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage — including lost profits, lost opportunity, or financial losses — arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or anything on it. You are solely responsible for the decisions you make with it.
Your content
Whatever you type stays yours. It is processed in your browser and stored only on your own device, so we neither hold it nor claim any rights in it. You are responsible for what you choose to put into a shared link, since anyone holding that link can read the sheet it encodes.
Acceptable use
You may use the scratchpad freely for personal and commercial work, including as part of your own business. You may not:
- Scrape, mirror, or republish the site's content or code as a competing product.
- Attempt to interfere with the site's operation or security.
- Present results from this site to third parties as professional advice, or as a formal appraisal, valuation, or loan determination.
Intellectual property
The site's text, design, and code are owned by its operator. The arithmetic itself is ordinary mathematics and is not claimed as proprietary.
